The Cincinnati Reds are as pathetic as the Washington Nationals in my book! Dusty Baker has no excuses! Injuries? Ha! Then tell me how Tony Larussa does it? Facts are Dusty Baker spends too much time playing with his palm pilot and cell phone (I guess looking up players' numbers and stats) and not actually paying attention to the game!

Rarely do you ever read or hear about Dusty Baker getting on a player for anything. There is no fire lit to get this team going. Brook Jacoby was a better player than a hitting coach, and that ain't saying much!

Dick Pole was this god-sent pitching coach that Greg Maddux, an all-time great, said was instrumental with his career.

Um, I beg to differ because Aaron Harang and Homer Bailey are useless and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Harang is having mechanical issues. Maybe they should hire Jeff Brantley as their pitching coach. He knows more about the pitching staff but is stuck in the broadcast booth.

Jay Bruce went from a five-tool stud who was replacing Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn to a player who looks more like Dave Kingman with his average and strikeout totals.

Jacoby has done nothing for this kid's career. What does Brook Jacoby do anyways? It seems every night he is in the dugout, arms crossed and confused! Pathetic!

Then there is the great Dusty Baker! hahaha!

This guy is about as bland as a sugar cookie without sugar! Dusty Baker shows no enthusiasm at all. To me, he is collecting a pay check and acting like a manger who is allowed to wear the Reds uniform. The Reds need an aggressive style of manager—like a Lou Piniella or even a Pete Rose.

Bottom line is the Reds will never go anywhere with this coaching staff. Fire them all and get a manager who gets it.

Someone who gets that this team needs a match to start a fire, and has a quality coaching staff who will throw some heavy logs on that fire and want to get this team back on top.  I'm out and that is my Reds Report for 2009!
