Jets Record Most Rushing Yards in a Half for Any Team in 2014

The New York Jets ran for 210 yards in the first half of Monday's 16-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins, setting the standard for most rushing yards in a single half by any team this season, per ESPN Stats & Info.

New York came out of the gates with a run-heavy gameplan, which led to 131 rushing yards in the first quarter, also the most by any team in the first quarter of any game this season, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The early charge was led by running back Chris Johnson, whose impressive 47-yard scamper set up a 20-yard touchdown run by wide receiver Greg Salas to give the Jets an early 7-0 lead.

New York then took a 10-0 lead at the 12:01 mark of the second quarter, with Nick Folk's field goal capping off a 10-play, 44-yard drive that did not include any pass attempts.

Four different players got carries on the Jets' following drive, which ended with a missed field goal, after spanning 14 plays and 64 yards. Just two of those 14 plays were pass attempts, with one going for a six-yard gain to wide receiver Percy Harvin, while the other fell incomplete.

The Dolphins then clamped down in the second half, limiting New York to just a field goal and a missed field goal on six drives. The Jets recorded 3.4 yards per carry after halftime, compared to 7.2 before the break.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith finished the contest with seven completions for 65 yards on just 13 pass attempts, with five of those attempts coming on the game's final drive.

The New York running game, meanwhile, finished with 277 yards on 49 carries, with eight different players recording at least one carry. Johnson led the way with 105 yards on 17 totes, followed by Chris Ivory's 62 yards from 16 carries.

Also pitching in were wide receiver Jeremy Kerley (two for 38 yards), Harvin (six for 27), Salas (one for 20), Smith (four for 19), running back Bilal Powell (two for four) and fullback John Conner (one for two).
