Bush and Romo Make "Career Decisions"

Maybe I am being a nagging, meddlesome Mother-In-Law, but I truly believe that two of the most important “off-season moves” may have come from Reggie Bush and Tony Romo. In the past two weeks, both Reggie and Tony have dropped their “high profiled” girlfriends, Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson, before the start of the 2009 training camps. Equally as interesting is the fact that both NFL stars made these “career decisions” on the cusp of what could be “make it or break it” seasons.

This season for Romo is intriguing due to the fact that Jerry Jones has made all the moves to “secure Tony’s fragile ego” by jettisoning Terrell Owens from the locker room and giving him a vote of confidence in the media. In the past, every game that Jessica visited was a disaster for Romo. His poor play extended beyond the playing field and caused his teammates to mention her presence as a contributing factor. Unfortunately, for Romo’s sake, with Jessica and T.O. gone, he will not have an alibi if the Cowboys fail to win big in 2009.

Now for Reggie, Kim’s “media whoring” may have reached a boiling point for him on their South African trip last week. First she lost her passport, stole the spotlight, confused countries and questioned racists. I guess she forgot that the trip was to bring awareness to the Blood Diamond Conflict regions in Africa. If you noticed Reggie was not smiling that brightly on the most recent photos of the couple. Also, Reggie and Kim had a minor confrontation at Khloe’s birthday party. Reggie must have figured out another Kim distraction going into camp would not be the wisest decision. Especially as he attempts to reclaim his starting job, the Saints fans adoration and to finally rid himself of the “The Bust” title.
