ORLANDO, FL - MAY 30: Ben Wallace #4 of the Cleveland Cavaliers drives to the hoop against Rafer Alston #1 and Hedo Turkoglu #15 of the Orlando Magic in Game Six of the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2009 Playoffs at Amway Arena on May 30, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. All the talk for the Pistons has been regarding the fact that they want to bring in a big man to back up Kwame Brown. At first it was Rasho, but then he signed up with his old team the Toronto Raptors

Then it was Drew Gooden, but the Pistons could only offer the veteran's minimum and a one year deal. He wanted to be on a championship caliber team and get a deal done soon.

The Pistons didn't get a deal done soon enough. As it was announced yesterday he signed with the Mavs.

He said that they were the team seeking his signature that has the best chance of a championship. Which may be true, but now that leaves Detroit with only one choice out of their original targets left.

I can't say I'm mad they didn't get him. I've said all along I wanted Rasho, and then when he was gone I said I wanted them to sign Ben to the Pistons. Well now it's basically boiled down to Wallace or no one.

So here's my plea to Joe Dumars, please pull the trigger and get a deal signed with Wallace and bring him home to finish his career.

He could really help as a back up and when he's not being forced to start every night, he can contribute. Solid contribution is all we need from him.

Here's to the (hopefully) soon homecoming of Big Ben Wallace. I look forward to seeing him in a Pistons uniform next year.
