As I checked the Jaguars News today I was relieved to find that the Jaguars had signed two more of there rookie picks.  The Jags signed rookie WR Tiquan Underwood and Derek Cox today, meaning that the only remaining unsigned picks are Terrance Knighton, Eben Britton, and Eugene Monroe.

Seeing that the Jags training camp doesn't ACTUALLY start until Monday, it seems as if maybe this year the Jags can get all their draft picks in on time. Considering this year's trend of players missing camps, it would be quite the accomplishment.

Other good news for the Jags is that Rams tackle Jason Smith and Raiders WR Heyward-Bey agreed to terms with their respective teams.  This means the Jaguars should have a ball-park in which they should expect to pay Eugene, and it also suggest Monroe would sign soon.

However, it is encouraging that the Jaguars signed the two rookies, so let's not take away from these two rookies.  The potential for both is large, considering that Derek Cox had rumours surrounding him that if his play continues he could be the next Rasheen Mathis.

Even if Cox doesnt become the second corner, he should at least bring stability to a nickel position.  This would be huge for Jacksonville because now, especially against the Colts, the Jags have a respectable option to cover a team's third wide reciever (or in the Colts case, Dallas Clark).

Underwood is not expected to be as important for the Jags this year, but should still be looked as a potential sleeper to impact the team.

All in all, its great to see the Jags sign the two rookies.

Can't wait for it to start.
