Hamlet seems to be back on the "Not to be" side of the fence after the report just crossed the wire that Fedor Emelianenko will be headlining EA Sports' MMA.
This news should come as no surprise to Fedorian's everywhere. After all the hype train has left Hope Station... we all know where it ends up.
To those who haven't been following every word Dana White has been spewing over the last year, Let me catch you up.
When Dana went trolling for a video game license the logical place to go would be EA Sports. They hold the publishing rights for several of the market's most successful sports-related video games, including the Madden NFL, FIFA, NASCAR and Tiger Woods PGA series.
Well in one of his famous tirades, Dana White spouted off about EA, after a stunning E3 announcement.
"EA Sports told us, You're not a real sport,'" White said. "We wouldn't touch this thing. We want nothing to do with this. We put our asses on the line, THQ and the UFC, to make a video-game deal in the worst economy in the world. We go out there and do this thing, and it's successful, and now [expletive] EA Sports wants to do a video game. Really? That's not what you told us a year-and-a-half ago."
"You told us you'd never be in business with us." White said. "They wouldn't even take a meeting because mixed martial arts disgusted them. This wasn't a real sport. Boy, they got over that real quick, didn't they? I'm not tap-dancing around this thing or whatever. I'm telling you straight-up; I'm at war with them right now. That's how I look at it."
To some this will be brushed aside, by the fact Randy Couture resigned after signing with EA.
I say Randy has a lot more clout than a Russian fighter who is (in his eyes) an overrated sack of turd who continually pokes him directly in the eye, and doesn't want to be the best.
All I can say is if you think Fedor's coming Friday... I hope you have lodging planned in Disappointment Town because it'll go fast. My guess is it's going to be something sad and pathetic, like Vitor Belfort returning.
Point is you've been warned.
