Cristiano Ronaldo—the Stats Don't Lie!

Richard McMillanMay 11, 2008

In the last five seasons, Cristiano Ronaldo has moved from being an out-and-out winger to a goal-scoring roaming midfielder.

Through Sir Alex's design and management, Ronaldo's goal ration stats have been tumbling.  From scoring once every 6.5 games back in the 2003-04 season, his statistics are now down to scoring once every 1.2 games!

All Man United fans wanted Ronaldo to reach the 40 goals per season mark—this is a remarkable achievement for the world's best strikers—never mind from midfield!

Personally, I am left quietly happy that it is unlikely that he will reach 46 as achieved by Denis Law—another record that should remain unreachable for many years to come.

I think Ronaldo will struggle to keep up the 1.2 ratio—but even if he comes close, United should be confident of equalling Liverpool's 18 league titles next year.
