After the A's ended the Yankees eight game winning streak yesterday, the Yankees went out to defeat the Oakland A's and win three out of the four game set

Today's starters were Oakland's Dallas Braden (7-8) and New York's rookie Sergio Mitre (1-0)

Oakland started today's game like they ended yesterday's as they tacked on two runs in the first to take the early 2-0 lead after half an inning.

The Bombers tho were ready to defend their their young arm thanks to a charge lead by Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira gave the Yankees a four spot in the 1st and at the end of one the Yankees had a 4-2 lead.

The next run came in the fourth because of a Mitre error. the inning could of ended but because of the error a sac fly brought Oakland within a run as the score was 4-3

Oakland struck again in the sixth when Mark Ellis cranked a two run dinger to put Oakland up 5-4

There is a second baseman for the Yanks too and he also got his team some runs in the sixth with a bases clearing double put the Yankees up 7-5

Hughes, Bruney and Rivera held down the fort for New York as they end up winning the series 3-1, and the game 7-5

The win went to Coke (2-3) and the loss to Braden (7-9) save to Rivera (29)

Boston fell to Baltimore and Tampa fell to Toronto so the Yankees gain all the ground back they lost yesterday to move 2.5 ahead of Boston and 6.5 ahead of Tampa.

The Yankees end their home stand 9-1 and now begin a nine game road trip starting in Tampa tomorrow at 7:05 ET
