No delay tonight, there was regularly scheduled baseball tonight in the Bronx as the A's and the Yankees went out to play their second game of a four game set from New York
Today's starter for Oakland was another rookie, this one who coming into this game had a 21 scoreless inning streak was Brett Anderson (5-7). He was opposed by NY Yankee fan fav Joba Chamberlain (5-2)
The game began with a terrible defensive play by NYY RF Nick Swisher and after a steal and a sacrifice fly to Swisher the A's had a 1-0 lead Top 1
Anderson looked just as dominant as his fellow starter Vin Mazzaro thru the first two innings today but in the third the Yankees struck for two runs to make the score 2-1 NYY after three innings
In the fifth and sixth inning the Yankees played great small ball scoring a run in both of the innings to take a 4-1 lead after six.
In the eighth, Rivera was ready to go after his day off but he soon sat down after a lead off HR by Jorge Posada, his first right handed HR at Yankee Stadium since he hit the first ever home run at Yankee Stadium. Many hits later the Yanks ended up putting a 4 on the score board and lead 8-1 after eight.
The A's tacked on two runs in the ninth but that was no where near enough to force another half frame as the Yankees defeated the A's 8-3
The Yankees move to 59-37 another high water mark of the year as they stay 2.5 games ahead of the Red Sox who defeated Baltimore 3-1 and 6.5 ahead of the AL champ TB Rays as they defeated Toronto in possibly Doc Halladay's final TOR start.
These teams play the third of their four game set tomorrow at 1:05 ET tomorrow
