Since Messi made his debut in 2004, he has 249 goals and 100 assists, making a total of 349.
As for Ronaldo in the same period? He has 349 as well—albeit the total comes from more goals (270) and fewer assists (79).
The two are well clear of all their rivals, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic the best of the rest on a combined 273.
Some would argue that Messi getting to 349 in fewer games proves he's the superior player. Others would argue that Ronaldo's fitness to be able to play more games in the same span of time should count in his favour.
Some would go more forensic and look at the clubs they played for, and level of their opponents.
So, of course, the debate will rumble on regardless of this curious statistic...
