Daughter of Liga Record Scorer Glad That Messi, Not Ronaldo, Will Break Record
Lionel Messi is on the brink of breaking one the oldest records in Spanish football and needs just three more goals to become La Liga's all-time top scorer.
The Barcelona star could even break the landmark at the Bernabeu when the first Clasico of the season takes place there on October 25.
The current record holder is Athletic Bilbao legend Telmo Zarra, who scored 251 goals between 1940 and 1955.

His daughter has now come out and said that the family are content to let the record go and are glad it is Messi, not Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, who is set to break the landmark.
Carmen Zarra told Catalunya Radio, as per ESPN:
"My father retired from football in 1953-54. Almost 60 years have passed since then.
Now the time has come for someone to break it. I would have liked it to have been someone from Athletic. But for sure my father would have been delighted with Messi, because he seems a very noble person on and off the pitch. He behaves himself very laudably.
I like Messi a lot more as a player and as a person [to Ronaldo], without going any further.
I am not going to say more. I like more how he behaves on the pitch. I see Messi playing and I like to follow him.
Cristiano Ronaldo gets to goal well, he has a lot of power and you must fear him, but the way I am I like Leo.
"
Ronaldo has scored 190 goals in 171 La Liga games, but he could struggle to catch up to Messi as he is 15 months older than the Argentine star.
