All-Time NHL Team

Ryan Senior Writer IMay 8, 2008

Just a quick little diddy for those of you who read me on a fairly regular basis.

Over the next few days, I'm going to form an All-Time NHL team.  I will have a starting line up (left wing, right wing, center, a pair of defensemen and a goalie) as well as three reserves in each forward slot, four reserves on defense and two back up goalies.  I will start with a position, name the starter and give you a little history as well as why I chose him, then name my reserves as well as why I chose them.  And since most teams feel that winning begins from the net out, we'll starting with the goaltenders.

All-Time NHL Team:

Starting Goalie: Patrick Roy  Backups: Terry Sawchuk, Martin Brodeur

Starting Defensemen: Bobby Orr & Doug Harvey  Reserves: Larry Robinson, Denis Potvin, Ray Bourque, Nicklas Lidstrom

Starting Left Wing: Bobby Hull Reserves: Frank Mahovlich, Luc Robitaille, Ted Lindsay

Starting Right Wing: Gordie Howe Reserves: Brett Hull, Mike Bossy, Maurice Richard

Starting Center: Wayne Gretzky Reserves: Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux

Honorable Mention: Jacques Plante, Dominik Hasek, Paul Coffey, Eddie Shore, Al MacInnis, Jaromir Jagr, Guy Lafleur, Johnny Bucyk, Alex Delvecchio, Joe Sakic, Phil Esposito, Marcel Dionne, Jean Beliveau
