Chelsea fans have a reason to get excited: the preseason is here.

This preseason promises to be more exciting than previous ones. Not only do Chelsea fans get a preview of what their team will look like under new coach Carlos Ancelotti, but there's also a lot of sentiment attached to these matches.

The preseason games are played in the USA, and tour kicks off with a match against MLS team Seattle Sounders on July 18.

Following that, Chelsea participate in the inaugural World Football Challenge.

The World Football Challenge tournament has four teams playing in them—Chelsea, Club America, Inter Milan, and AC Milan. Chelsea's first match of the tournament is versus Jose Mourinho and his Inter Milan squad.

Chelsea will have to battle the very man who took them to the pinnacle of success—Jose Mourinho. If that's not reason enough for us to get excited, also factor in the fact that Jose Mourinho and Carlos Ancelotti were bitter rivals in Seria-A.

The rivalry extended to a war of words with Jose saying that, "Carlos is not my friend."

Can Ancelotti lay the first strike on Jose Mourinho in this new season?

Pasadena, California will be the place where all eyes will be watching on July 21.

Chelsea's next match is on July 24 in Baltimore, and their opponents will be Carlos Ancelotti's ex-team AC Milan.

Rumor has it that, had Silvio Berlusconi not pulled the rug from under Carlos Ancelotti's feet, that Carlos would have still been in charge of the team. Carlos now has a chance to avenge himself by taking on the very team which he guided to two Champions League finals.

Chelsea's last game of the tournament is against Club America in Arlington, TX on July 26. Club America have won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup five times, and the Mexican Primera Division 10 times. They will present a unique challenge to Chelsea.

Round Up:

  • Saturday, July 18 : Chelsea FC vs. Seattle Sounders
  • Tuesday, July 21 : Chelsea FC vs. Inter Milan
  • Friday, July 24 : Chelsea FC v AC Milan
  • Sunday, July 26 : Chelsea FC vs. Club America

These games will be telecast in ESPN, ESPN2 and Chelsea TV.
