On July 7, the Dallas Mavericks signed french point-guard Rodrigue Beaubois.

The No. 25 pick of the draft out of Guadeloupe, Rodrigue's contract will be worth $1.1 million for the season.

Yes he a virtual unknown, but I think the Mavericks have found another gem. For the record Josh Howard was a No. 23 pick and started his rookie season.

If you Have not seen his YouTube clip, you are missing such a "Thriller"

He is all ready been nicknamed Roddy. Beaubois is very long at 6'2", he has an unbelievable wingspan of 6'10".

He is naturally athletic. This 180 pounder possesses a vertical jump of 38".

Beaubois has Devin Harris type speed, with a twist. Remember the one little knock on Harris? Little Devin couldn't find the brakes on his speed, to save his life.

Examine the YouTube clip carefully, you will be quickly excited as I was.  Beaubois shows potential that he can run the fast-break offense. And unlike Harris, Beaubois can throttle his speed.

There is one possession that is burned into my mind. Watch the clip carefully, and see if you catch it too.

Beabois is ahead of everyone on the fast-break. He makes dribble penetration into the paint, and brakes his speed in half.

That causes the defenders to over-pursue him. He makes a sweet one bounce pass through traffic, to the shooter waiting on the left-wing. Easy "J."

Seeing what Beaubois can do, now let us imagine the future. Coupled that with what Kidd can teach him.

Is your head spinning yet?

It appears to me, that the Mavericks may have landed the point-guard of the future.  Someone for Kidd to pass the mantle of the starting point-guard too.

Now that the Mavericks have signed Kidd for three years, Beaubois will have plenty of time to learn from the master.
