Tiger Woods won for the third time on tour this season, with a late birdie, at the ATT Championship in Bethesda, Md.

Hunter Mahan was in the clubhouse with the lead, but Tiger caught and passed him, leaving Mahan a second place finish.

I had both players on my fantasy picks this week and again took a nice jump in Yahoo Fantasy Golf.

Currently, I am ahead of three of the four experts in points for the season and ahead of all of them for the summer.  I am now at 11,748  with 3722 points. This gets me in the 93rd percentile, up once more from last week.

Next week the tour is in Silvis, Il, for the John Deere Classic, at the TPC at Deere Run. Kenny Perry is the defending champion and I would like to see a repeat.

My fantasy team will consist of Kenny Perry, Steve Stricker, Charley Hoffman, and Scott Verplank. On the bench in reserve will be Cameron Beckman, who showed some good things this last week, Lucas Glover, Woody Austin, who both make many cuts, and Matt Kuchar.

Many top players are making plans to travel to the British Open to be played in two weeks in Ayrshire, Scotland, at Turnberry, the Alisa Course.

If Tiger can bring home a British Open, he can cement Golfer of the Year status and edge closer to his goal of surpassing Jack Nicklaus's majors wins.

I think he can do it and good luck to the greatest golfer on planet Earth.

The congressman was teeing up his ball when he stopped  and turned to his partner."Do you know why golf is like taxes?"  "No," his playing partner said.

"You drive hard to get to the green, and then you end up in the hole."

Hope everyone had a good safe Fourth of July, and peace to Steve "Air" McNair.
