The Five Most Likeable Giants

1. Tim Lincecum

He is the best pitcher the Giants have had since Jason Schmidt. Lincecum is 9-2 with a 2.23 ERA this season.

This Cy Young winner is on track to start the All Star Game in St. Louis. Fans love watching him strike out batter after batter and he makes all the Filipino fans in the Bay Area proud of him.

He is the Barry Bonds of the 2009 Giants and you don't want to miss any of his starts because you might be missing a great historic performance. Lincecum is one tough competitor and loves facing the best hitters and teams. He is the superstar of this team and a great role model to kids out there.

Although he is not built like Roger Clemens or CC Sabathia, he can throw almost just as hard as those two tall and strong pitchers. A 5'11", 170-pound man is not expected to do the things that Lincecum is able to do.

2. Ryan Sadowski

Who is this guy? Sadowski came out of nowhere to win two games for the Giants and has 13 shutout innings to start his Major League career.

He seems very humble and genuine in his interviews. Sadowski seems to be a very nice guy and fans love to root for the underdog.

He was not a top prospect at all in the Minors and he would not even be up in the Majors right now if Jonathan Sanchez was pitching well.

Sadowski had brain surgery a few years ago and now he is enjoying every single day and is very grateful for everything.

For some reason, he reminds me of former Giants pitcher John Burkett. If Sadowski has a career as a Giant that is similar to Burkett's, the fans in San Francisco will continue to cheer loudly for this guy.

3. Pablo Sandoval

Sandoval is well-liked by both his teammates and the fans at AT&T Park. He is always smiling and seems to love playing baseball. He is batting .333 with 12 homers and 44 RBIs. Those are All-Star numbers and he should be in St. Louis, along with Matt Cain and Lincecum for the All-Star game.

Sandoval has also played pretty well defensively at third base. He might not be very selective when it comes to swinging at pitches, but he is still batting over .300 and leads the Giants in home runs.

4. Matt Cain

Cain is 9-2 with a 2.48 ERA and has gotten some run support this year.

I met Cain a few years ago at an autograph signing at Macy's and he is a very nice person. Cain was great with the fans and he seemed to really enjoy meeting all the Giants fans waiting in line to see him.

Cain was walking up the escalator to leave when a woman came up to him, and asked if he could take a picture with her daughter. Cain waited a few minutes for the daughter to show up and kindly took a picture with her.

Although he did not have a lot of run support last year, he never complained about it and just went about his business.

Cain lost some weight during the offseason and he is having his best year yet in the majors.

5. Jeremy Affeldt

Affeldt has been a great addition to the Giants' bullpen. His ERA is 1.44, and he is one of the hardest throwing lefty relievers in the big leagues. He has a tremendous curveball  and has been able to use that pitch to get out of difficult jams in the late innings of close games.

This guy is everything that Bob Howry is not. Affeldt always seems to be coming in after Howry set up the team for disaster, and Affeldt would induce a double play to get the Giants out of the inning without any damage being caused.
