Here's Part Two of a five-part series that looks at a mock MMA draft.
The biggest rule is that only three fighters per promotion can be drafted.
1. Georges St. Pierre-UFC (16-2)
GSP is one of the top pound-for-pounders on the planet, so this is a no-brainer.
2. Jon Fitch-UFC (17-2)
Fitch is the No. 1 contender in the UFC. He comes from a great camp and is well-rounded.
3. Carlos Condit-WEC (22-4)
Condit is the WEC welterweight champion. I'm very interested to see how he would handle a top-tier opponent. He's currently on a seven-fight win streak.
4. Jake Shields-Elite (20-4-1)
Shields is a Cesar Gracie Black belt who is currently on a nine-fight win streak. Many people compare him to GSP. He beat "Mach" Sakurai in a 2002 Shooto event by decision.
5. Eddie Alvarez-Dream (13-1)
A dynamic striker who's only loss was to Nick Thompson.
6. Jason Miller-Dream (20-5)
One of the truly unique characters in MMA, very solid on the ground. Are you a Mayhem Monkey? I am.
7. Brock Larson-WEC (23-2)
A submission specialist whose only losses where at the hands of Jon Fitch and Carlos Condit.
8. Nick Thompson-World Victory Road (35-9-1)
A wily veteran who is tough on the ground.
9. Jay Hieron-IFL (15-4)
Current welterweight champion in the IFL. Trains with Xtreme Couture and is very well rounded.
10. Thiago Alves-UFC (14-3)
American Top Team product who is coming off a big win over Karo Parisyan. Will face his biggest test at UFC 85 where he will face Matt Hughes.
I know there are a bunch of great guys in the UFC's welterweight division, but decided to go with Alves because of his knockout ability.
The list is filled with guys who are great on the ground and I felt the list needed a striker to make things more interesting.

Not like this idea's being done far more in depth and better organized by another, more credible blog site. Not at all.
Too bad I'll never get the 15 wasted seconds it took to read this back on my clock.

Aaron I'm sorry you didn't like my article, if I could give you your fifteen seconds back I would. I had no idea that another site had done a draft, I assume you are talking about the five ounces of pain draft. The concepts are fairly different. They had several people drafting at any weight class with the assumption that all fighters become Free agents, and the six guys pick their fighters. I wanted to be division specific and draft guys like Brock Larson and Eddie Alvarez, fighters that everyone may not be familiar with. I'm just an MMA fan who likes to write and thought this might be fun, sorry you don't approve.

Ryan: just keep writing about what you care about - that's what the Internet and forums like these are for, and don't worry about folks who want to criticize for no reason.

Yeah, I came off as a dick. An asshole. yup. Classy of you not to point it out. But, as established, when it comes to internet chatter, I got no class. That's why I'm a fan of fightlinker.
If you'd like more constructive criticism (I'm tempted to say: look elsewhere), I'd suggest a bit more of your inside opinions on these fighters. The idea of three per promotion is interesting, I'd just like to see more than a sentence or fragment regarding their attributes, and why you chose them. Maybe include a who's who of people not chosen. Also, you should include some kind of reference to previous rounds, if you're doing a five-parter. I personally don't know how you're going to stretch a welterweight draft over that many articles, but if you are going to, you should open with what happened previous, and close with a hint for what's next.
But hey, most of my prickishness was based on the fact that you must be reading other blogs (you DO know fiveouncesofpain.com after all), and I figured you'd seen their draft, and thought it'd be a good idea to do one yourself. Blatant ripoff or bad timing, whichever it is, if you're going to write, be ready for dickheads like me, cause there's more of em out there, with more time on their hands. And I'll let you know right now.....Bleacher report articles have a little stigma attached to them, being that ANYONE can write something, about anything. There's a lot of useless, ill-written and ill-informed articles on here, but I can at least say that I have very little to disagree with you in your picks.

You have to love bleacher sometimes. I have gotten used to negative feedback, most of which comes from people who don't always have a extensive knowledge base in MMA. I think that you do as you have commented on my article's several times with great points and most of the time praise for my writing. Then you blast me and accuse me of plagiarism, which caught me off guard. I actually was unaware of any MMA draft until after you commented on the article, I googled it and found Five ounces of pain. Your right about being more in depth but I was so burned out doing the research i didn't have the energy to write a lot about each guy. I should have, but I didn't. The articles was more a way for me to promote folks during some research on their own and expanding horizons. I want to make clear I do respect your opinions because they are good ones. I also agree that there is a stigma attached to Bleacher Report but I hope that my whole body of work would be looked at rather than one piece. I appreciate your feedback and hope to hear from you again soon.
