Colt McCoy is a gunslinger in every sense of the word. Last season McCoy had 3859 yards passing with 34 TD’s and eight interceptions. His completion percentage was 76.7-percent. He also rushed for 561 yards and 11 TD’s.
 
McCoy is the all-around QB. He leads a team that will likely play for the national title this season. He’s likely to be the top QB taken in the 2010 NFL draft.
 
With a mix of tremendous athleticism, game IQ and all-out toughness Colt McCoy is as good as it gets.
 
Texas opponents will likely learn rather quickly just how much talent McCoy has. The Longhorns ’09 schedule has only a couple of potential pitfalls—the annual grudge match against Oklahoma and the Oct. 31 game at tremendously talented Oklahoma State.
 
McCoy will have plenty of help, unlike Sam Bradford. Texas lost some talent, but the ‘Horns are two-deep at almost every offensive position. And that defense will make sure fans in Austin have plenty to cheer for in ’09.
 
I know Sam Bradford’s stats were hard to ignore last season, but Colt McCoy does so much that doesn’t show up in the stats. His intangibles are remarkable and his talent is mindblowing.
 
Will McCoy pick up where he left of in ’08? In case you forgot where he left off it was the Fiesta Bowl against an unbelievable defense. He only completed 71 percent of his passes for 414 yards against the likes of Malcolm Jenkins, James Laurinitis and the rest of the vaunted Buckeye defense. 
 
Some would say that McCoy was gypped in the Heisman race and even more would say the Longhorns were hosed in not getting into the Big 12 Championship and conversely the national championship. Those people are likely right.
 
With that bad taste still in McCoy’s mouth expect big… no… enormous things in Austin this year from Colt McCoy and the Longhorns.
