Whats Going On With The Philadelphia Phillies?

The Phillies are in a slump.

Anyone can see that, even a Mets fan, actually a Mets fan would enjoy it.

But whats going on?

It is simple, the Phillies have lost their rhythm, confidence and momentum.

They were just swept by the Braves, losing tonight's game 5-2.

They have lost seven of their last ten and have dropped to only two games above 500.

Not to mention they are now tied with the Marlins for the N.L. East.

The Phillies need to get fired up, show some attitude and get their groove back. Maybe call up Stella, she seems to know how.

With slumping players like Rollins and Howard, injuries to their star hitter Ibanez, and recent problems and injuries with Lidge, Hamels and Myers.

It is no wonder the Phils are having problems, but that is baseball and sports for that matter.

You have to be able to get through it and keep fighting.

The Phillies have a tough home series coming up with the Mets.

Every game is sold out, not to mention the Fourth of July fireworks.

If the Phillies want to get back on track, this is the weekend to do it. By sweeping the Mets at home on Fourth of July weekend.

The Phillies are defending champions. Everyone knows that, especially the Mets.

The core of the Phillies problems, as you all know have come from their inconsistent bullpen. Plagued with injuries, it is tough to get all the pitchers into a rhythm, a winning rhythm that is.

The Phils have ten games left before the All-Star break.

Ibanez should be back soon enough, and will definitely be back for the start of the second half of the season.

The Phillies will have some time during the All-Star break to re-group, so I say, if the Phils have to go through a slump, what better time than right before the break?

Can the defending champs get back on track, time will tell, but I'll be watching tomorrow night as the Phils take on the Mets in Philadelphia.
