EPL Rumour Mill: Cristiano Ronaldo Thinks About His Future?
We're back with another edition of the EPL rumour mill. But who has been in the headlines this week? And who will be making their moves come the summer?
Cristiano Ronaldo has fuelled speculation about his long-term future by refusing to be drawn on his career. It seems to me that there's not too much in this one, but with Madrid picking at whatever Ronaldo-shaped scraps they can find, expect the Cristiano rumours to run and run.
Perennial rumour-mill favourite Gareth Barry has again refused to remove himself from the mouths of the gossip mongers. Martin O'Neill has deemed it necessary to complain about Liverpool's bid leaking to the press. This one has produced more smoke than fire, but given the amount of confusion surrounding his position at Villa Park, I'd be less than surprised to see him donning the red of Liverpool next year.
Incidentally, the player-exchange that O'Neill is referring to is reportedly lanky former Villan Peter Crouch. The offer, reportedly £8m plus Crouch, has tempted the Aston Villa board and a deal could be struck.
It is a well- known fact that Manchester United have been looking for a world-class target man, with Karim Benzema and Roque Santa Cruz amongst the names being linked with Old Trafford. But one that's come right out of left field is bleach-haired Hammer Dean Ashton, who apparently has been catching the eye of Sir Alex. A similarly odd coincidence is that West Ham face United this weekend. Funny, that.
Chelsea flop Andriy Shevchenko's bags are all but packed, with Milan the inevitable destination to prolong their love affair after two seasons of heartache in the English capital.
And the bombshell to finish. Chelsea have apparently been told they can have global phenomenon Kaka' for a staggering £55m. True? Probably not. Interesting? Most definitely.
