From ACCBlitz.com:
(7.1.09) Today's "Around the ACC" is jam-packed. There is an update on Mark Herzlich from his blog, more on the situation with UNC losing recruits and players, complaints from FSU, one team's self-reported violations, and much more. Plus, a very interesting non-football story on how one betting firm lost $1.6 million because of former Clemson golfer Lucas Glover and his unlikely win.
- Boston College LB Mark Herzlich is now providing updates on his blog about his life. It was revealed in early May that Herzlich was diagnosed with cancer.
- The QB situation is still not settled at Clemson. Many thought former Byrnes standout Willy Korn was set in stone as the next starter for the Tigers, but after an impressive spring game by dual-sport star Kyle Parker, Coach Dabo has them both listed as No. 1. Apparently, that was enough motivation for Korn to work on his technique to gain an edge.
- On a positive note for the coaches, their decisions on a starter will be made from the comfort of their new offices. If you haven't gotten a chance, head over and check out the West Zone at Death Valley. Maintaining financial support for such additions might get a little tougher in 2009 though, with ticket sales declining 13%.
- Stephen Allan wrote a strong article about Vince Oghobaase and his role as a leader for Duke's football team in 2009.
- So, Bobby Bowden has a little fight left in him. Florida State has decided they're not backing off their appeal and continues its stance that the forfeit of wins is unfair. On a good note, WR Taiwan Easterling impressed many folks around camp with his quick recovery after surgery on his Achilles' tendon.
- The situation at North Carolina has gone from bad, when they lost recruits but ultimately gained scholarships, to slightly worse now with their kicker deciding to transfer
