So, I've been gone for about a few weeks and I come back to see that the WWE has not done a thing to keep fans entertained.
Sure, it did a fairly decent job with last week's commercial free broadcast of RAW, but after that, it went back to the same old song and dance: Orton can't survive alone, an MTV reject gets the best of the infamous fan favorite/fan hated, and of course, there's Triple H.
In all honesty, is this the best that the WWE has for us?
I needed some time off to regain my thoughts, my motivation, and composure. In my absence, the Pro Wrestling Section continued to chime out countless columns ranging from Ring of Honor to the soon-to-be defunct TNA. And in the middle of all of this lies the so-called most powerful wrestling conglomerate in the world.
But the WWE has not lived up to its full potential. Instead of forgiving superstars who have screwed up in the past, it continued to put our hopes of continuing to watch the broadcast in the hands of an egotistical heel, a ECW Legend, and a guy who can't buy a pay-per-view victory.
In other words, Randy Orton, Tommy Dreamer, and CM Punk are supposed to keep us watching.
Did it work? Not really. People continue to tune out RAW, and after this past Sunday's Bash, people are preparing to turn off their televisions completely.
Vince McMahon knows this, yet he does nothing. Last night, he decided to do the guest host gimmick originally endorsed by Donald Trump. Batista was the first to roll with the gimmick, and he did a decent enough job to get approval.
But when it came time for talks of Night of Champions, we all knew who would be the frontrunners for the main event against Randy Orton. We all know that John Cena will most likely lose to Triple H next Monday night on RAW, making it three straight WWE Championship matches between Triple H and Orton. As for Cena, he will most likely be back in another lame duck storyline with Big Show or The Miz.
But even with everything that happened, the WWE continues to play Hollywood Shuffle with members of its rosters. Now Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne and Mark Henry have done enough to earn a spot on a live broadcast? While the Bella Twins are relegated to ECW, and The Hart Dynasty and Matt Hardy are on SmackDown?
Seriously, who is writing this crap?
I have been a lifelong wrestling fan, but this is even too much for me to stomach. I decided to give both WWE and TNA the benefit of the doubt, but neither have stepped up and given something to keep me entertained.
Granted, I'll do the familiar "boom boom boom" chants when Kofi Kingston comes out, and I'll find myself screaming out "beer...money!" when the TNA Tag Team Champions come down.
But for the sake of a better mind, I can't find myself dealing with the concept of old storylines and mediocre rivalries in an attempt to keep me entertained for two hours.
Here's the thing about last week: RAW was commercial free and provided the same amount of entertainment as it would with commercials included. But Vince has opted to continue his storyline war with Orton, keep Cena out of the championship matches, make Big Show into a pushover, and make Jeff Hardy pay for his crimes.
But is CM Punk the answer to SmackDown's future downfall? Is Tommy Dreamer really the answer to ECW's tribulations? Is Randy Orton the cure or the cancer?
