In My Humble Opinion, Shaq Will Help The Cavs and Federer Wins Wimbledon

Here are a few things I'm stewing on this week:

• He may be 37, and not as quick as we once was, but as long as Shaq clears the lane for LeBron to have an open look at the hoop, the Cavaliers will be the cream of the Eastern Conference.
• I would find it hard to believe that anyone could possibly think that Blake Griffin wouldn't be the No. 1 pick in the draft.
• You couldn't pay me enough to coach, play, or broadcast for the Nationals.
• I know he's still struggling to find his form, but John Smoltz did little to convince me that he can survive in the rough and tumble world of the American League East. However, aside from two bad innings, I still am optimistic that he can turn it around.
• I haven't heard any calls for Joe Girardi's head yet. I must be missing something.
• I'm not a fan of the Lakers supposed plan of having Phil Jackson coach only home games simply because there might be a disconnect between Jackson and Kurt Rambis on how to run things. A team needs a set strategy and stable leadership in order to succeed.
• The Yankees are the only team dumb enough to file a protest with the league because they think their opponent won unfairly.
• I can live with the fact that Cleveland and Orlando are better than the Celtics right now, but I refuse to believe that the Wizards are better than the Celtics based on the quality of their draft picks.
• I knew Brent Sutter was going to be the coach of the Flames. It was the worst kept secret in hockey.
• If TO is as bad as he was on The Superstars, it's going to be another long year in Orchard Park.
• New Lions coach Jim Schwartz is a coach with nothing to lose—if he wins just one game, he's already improved the team's win total.
• The lack of a strong male opponent for Roger Federer should mean an easy Wimbledon championship.
• If you told me a few years ago that Sweet Caroline would be an actual athletic fight song, I would have laughed. Now, no Red Sox game is complete without it.
• Last week's quiz answer was Chris Miller. This week's question: How many pennants have the Yankees won in their history?
• RIP Michael Jackson. You are the closest thing my generation had to the Beatles. Your music will live on forever.
