Southampton's Adam Lallana splashed out £50,000 on a stag week in Miami, but he had to send his friends off to celebrate without him because he was named in England's 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup.
The remainder of the group still went to Miami regardless, where they stayed in a five-star villa.
A friend told the Sun: 'Obviously he is gutted he isn't there with them all, but he knows that he has to be on top form for Brazil and he's going to give it his all.
'Most of the lads that went have known him all his life and they've always supported him—so he wanted to give something back to them.'
It's not the only aspect of his marriage to Emily Jubb that has had to be turned upside down, the reports add.
They were due to tie the knot later this summer, but the wedding was brought forward to December when it became apparent that Lallana was in contention for a place on the plane to Brazil.
So the stag event is technically a bit late anyway.
In the meantime, Lallana will be with the squad as they begin their training camp for the tournament in Portugal on Monday.
England have friendlies against Peru on May 30, Ecuador on June 4 and Honduras on June 7 before their World Cup campaign commences against Italy on June 14.
