Possible Feuds for Alexander Rusev Following Extreme Rules

Ricardo CruzApr 29, 2014

Alexander Rusev made his WWE debut at this past Royal Rumble, and ever since then, he has been unstoppable. Along with "The Ravishing Russian" Lana, he has crushed each and every person who has crossed his path.

In the past few weeks, he has built a small feud with R-Truth and Xavier Woods, with Rusev earning wins over the duo.

At Extreme Rules on Sunday, "The Bulgarian Brute" will take on both men in a two-on-one handicap match. With Rusev expected to continue his dominance at the pay-per-view, the WWE will need to involve him in a feud that will continue to make him look like the monster that it wants him to be.

Whom do you think would make for a great feud with The Bulgarian Brute? Here are four suggestions.

Big Show

1 of 5

A program with Big Show could be great for Rusev. While Big Show's stock has fallen of late, he is still a marquee wrestler in the business.

If the WWE chooses to use Big Show against Rusev like they did against Brock Lesnar, it would make Rusev look like the destructive monster that he is. Working with Big Show would also give Rusev the chance to work with one of the best in the company and can help develop his skill set.

Mark Henry

2 of 5

Mark Henry is in the same category as the Big Show. While he has fallen off a bit, he can still put together some good matches and would provide Rusev with a big step up in competition.

A battle between these two brutes would be entertaining for the fans. Using Henry to put over Rusev can help the budding wrestler's career. The WWE must just avoid making the same mistake it did with Ryback and Henry.

Big E

3 of 5

Big E might be the most unlikely name on this list. It all depends on what happens at Extreme Rules. Although matches between the two would be fun, Big E might find himself embroiled in a feud with Bad News Barrett.

However, if Big E does move on after Extreme Rules with or without the intercontinental title, he would be a great matchup for The Bulgarian Brute. Both have similar power-move sets and are surprising agile for their size. A feud between the two would showcase the talent that they possess and would be exciting.

Sheamus

4 of 5

My personal pick for Rusev's next opponent would be Sheamus. Ever since returning at the Royal Rumble, he has been in desperate need of new creative direction. He had a few great matches against Bad News Barrett and Batista, but his character seems to have lost his aggressive nature. A feud against Rusev would be the best possible route for "The Celtic Warrior."

A feud between Sheamus and Rusev would give the fans the classic face vs. heel matchup. It also gives Rusev the opportunity to step into a program against a former WWE and world heavyweight champion. Going from matches against Sin Cara and Xavier Woods to Sheamus will help his character grow and continue to build him up as a monster heel.

Conclusion

5 of 5

There are several different ways that the WWE can go with Rusev. I believe that these four would be the best options moving forward for him.

All four are big bruisers who can match his power and would provide a legitimate challenge for the rising prospect. It will make Rusev look stronger while also giving each wrestler the chance to get into a program that could last for more than one pay-per-view.
