The Hefty Lefty: Where Is He Now

GLENDALE, AZ - FEBRUARY 03: Backup quarterback Jared Lorenzen #13 of the New York Giants reacts after the Giants defeated the New England Patriots 17-14 during Super Bowl XLII on February 3, 2008 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)

It was not easy finding information for this article. In fact I had to turn to the "forbidden" Wikipedia! OOH!

But that is besides the point. Being a young Giants fan, it seems like Lorenzen was in Big Blue's locker room for years (this was not the case). The legend of "The Hefty Lefty"—a 6'4", 285 lbs. QB out of the University of Kentucky—may have been short-lived, but it will forever wane on the minds of true Giants fans...most likely begging the question why?

FYI—That was rhetorical. It's basically irrelevant it happened and it was magical. Okay, so maybe that's a little too much hype, but it was certainly hysterical.

After leaving the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants, Lorenzen had a brief stint with the Colts.

Where is he now?

Currently, he is part of the Kentucky Horsemen. The who? That is correct, folks. Our very own left-handed true giant is back in his collegiate home of Kentucky playing for the AF2.

Honestly, I enjoy the AFL to a large extent and I truly hope it thrives and comes back stronger then ever. But can someone please, with a straight face and sincerity tell me they knew about the AF2?

Regardless, I wish Hefty the best of luck in all his future endeavors. Lets face it. Maybe he was longed for the NFL, but he certainly had a cannon. In a rough and tough AF2 style of play, he may just fit right in. If not, well, the brand new UFL maybe a good fit for him, even prepare him for an NFL comeback.

I've seen stranger things—Matt Castle for example?
