"In My Heart, I'll Always Be a Titan."

Colby EngelsonJun 19, 2009

Tennessee Titans veteran linebacker Keith Bulluck has been flying sideline to sideline and leading the Titans defense for several years now. He is the captain of one of the better defenses in the NFL, and he is an iron man starting 113 consecutive regular season games. In my opinion, he is the most underrated outside linebacker in the NFL. During a live chat earlier this week on NFL.com, Bulluck referred to himself as "overlooked" not underrated.

Keith Bulluck is an outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme,a dying breed. Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and company have always applied pressure on the quarterback with the four down lineman up front, rarely blitzing linebackers. Bulluck has just 18 sacks for his entire 10 year career, but he has always been among the leaders in tackles. He is the consummate professional, always attending the mundane off-season routines such as Organized Team Activities and non-mandatory practice sessions. He matches his unique athleticism with a sharp football mind, and a work ethic that is comparable to anyone. Even with all of that said, there is a good chance that this season may be the last for Keith Bulluck in a Tennessee Titans uniform.

Keith Bulluck understands that the National Football League is what it is, a business. He has also been around the Titans franchise long enough to see great players who are embedded in the organization and city much like himself, walk out the door. Bulluck stated in the live chat wednesday that he would love to retire as a Titan,"But given our organization's past history with veteran players, it's not likely to happen." Bulluck has never been afraid to speak his mind, he's a brash New Yorker with a tough upbringing that has molded into a fiery, competitive leader.

The Tennessee Titans, much like Bulluck himself are often over looked by the national media. Does it bother them? No. Does it bother captain Bulluck? Hell no! The nation will soon realize that there is something special brewing in Nashville, and #53 is still a big part of it.Keith Bulluck will always have a spot in the hearts of the fans who wear the two-tone blue with pride. No matter what happens, like the fiery leader stated himself, "In my heart, I'll always be a Titan." I wish Bulluck and the rest of the Tennessee Titans luck as they get locked and loaded for another shot at bringing the first world title to the city of Nashville Tennessee.
