Yesterday afternoon I noticed on the bottom of ESPN, "Orlando Magic: Turkoglu opts out of deal."
Right after that, I received a phone call from a friend saying, "Oh did you see ESPN yet, Turk opted out of his contract."
Later on that night I noticed a bunch of writers mentioning Turkoglu and how he is officially testing the free agency waters.
That is where I am now going to stop.
Let me explain something to you Bleacher Creatures.
Hedo Turkoglu became an unrestricted free agent immediately after the NBA Finals ended, including an early termination option.
Opting out of a contract is the process that must be taken in order to actually re-sign or sign with the team of choice.
To go further on this topic, the Magic have already stated that they are willing to go over the luxury tax in order to re-sign the Orlando hometown hero.
Hedo Turkoglu had this to say to ESPN,
"Opting out doesn't mean I'm going to leave," he said. "I'm looking for the best opportunity for myself and my family. I hope everything will work out for both sides and I stay here because I became Turkoglu here. It's a good time for me to make a decision, and hopefully everything will work out and I'll be in a Magic jersey."
So there you have it, and one cannot hear it more crystal clear than from the man himself.
Turkoglu has emerged as one of the most elite prime time players in the NBA today and will remain one as long as he stays in Orlando with Stan Van Gundy as his head coach.
The potential rumors, signings with another team, and all the other nonsense has to go, because Mr. Turk-clutch is staying put!
