Why Christian Needs To Move to the "A" Show—SmackDown

Captain CharismaCorrespondent IJune 14, 2009

Like many of you, I was 99.9 percent certain that Captain Charisma himself, Christian, would be drafted in this year's WWE Draft to Smackdown so that all the Peeps and Edgeheads would be able to see the rivalry between the man in question and the Rated-R Superstar, Edge.

However, this was not to be and instead Christian was left stranded on ECW.

Christian made the most of this situation, however, and became ECW Champion at Backlash pinning "The All-American American" Jack Thwagger.

He then defended the title successfully at Judgment Day but lost it this past Sunday at Extreme Rules to Tommy Dreamer, which can only be described as a sympathy title reign given to Dreamer for all his years of jobbing out to more talented wrestlers.

ECW has become an excellent wrestling show. Some may say it's even better than Raw, which has become a shambles since the Draft.

Some may say ECW is second to Smackdown, which is on the verge of becoming equal to the Paul Heyman's Smackdown Six era of 2002.

Still, Christian is too big of a star to be on that show.

ECW is a place where young and upcoming wrestlers perform in order to get used to the WWE Environment with experienced wrestlers giving them an helping hand.

This formula has been working successfully and producing quality shows. Wrestlers like Tommy Dreamer and Finlay are perfect for that role, but not Christian.

I feel that Christian has all the attributes needed to be the World's Heavyweight Champ. He has the mic-skills, the in-ring skills and he is very much over with the fans. A move to Smackdown would not only elevate Captain Charisma's career but would surely make Smackdown the bona fide "A" show.

I mean, with Christian joining Edge, Jeff Hardy, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, IC Champion Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, John Morrison and Shelton Benjamin how can it not be?

The feuds that Christian can have are endless, and with his ability to play a face or heel both to perfection, he could become the gem of the show.

Now, I have heard that many people backstage in the WWE feel that Christian is the most underutilized and undervalued performer under contract in the WWE and rightly so.

Vince McMahon needs to listen to Smackdown writer Michael Hayes and move Christian to Smackdown, which would not only benefit the career of Captain Charisma, but would improve the overall Smackdown product vastly.

My hopes were raised when I saw the interaction between ECW GM Tiffany and SD GM Teddy Long.

Maybe this could be the start of a business relationship between the two including with a exchange of talent leading to Christian coming to the show where he belongs.

Here's hoping that by Summerslam, the Blue Brand have on their roster the No. 1 in the business, the man know to his peeps as Captain Charisma, Christian.
