Formula One 2010 Official Entry List: Who Are The Teams?

The FIA today released the much anticipated entry list for the 2010 season. Here is the Press Release and a short paragraph on the team:

2010 FIA Formula One World Championship Entry List

Following the completion of the applications process for teams to compete in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, the following teams have been confirmed.

BMW SAUBER F1 TEAM* / BMW SAUBER
RENAULT F1 TEAM* / RENAULT
PANASONIC TOYOTA RACING* / TOYOTA
BRAWN GP FORMULA ONE TEAM* / BRAWN TBA

*These five teams have submitted conditional entries.The FIA has invited them to lift those conditions following further discussions to be concluded not later than close of business on Friday 19 June.

The maximum number of cars permitted to enter the 2010 Championship has been increased to 26, two being entered by each competitor. Pending completion of the discussions referred to above, further due diligence is currently taking place on other potential entries.

 

Now here are my descriptions.

Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro

The Ferrari team have been entered unconditionally by the FIA because of legal issues. Ferrari have vowed to ignore this, “Ferrari shall not take part in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship until the conditions of its entry are satisfied,” the Ferrari statement said. The Team is based in Maranelllo, Italy and will use Ferrari engines. This will be Ferrari's 61st season in Formula One.

Scuderia Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing

The two red bull owned teams entered unconditionally and will therefore definetely be in the 2010 season no matter what happens. The Red Bull Team is based in Milton Keynes, England and will use Renault Engines. Toro Rosso are based in Faenza, Italy but have not yet confirmed an engine supplier. This will be Red Bull's 6th season in F1 and Toro Rosso's 5th year in Formula One.

AT&T Williams

The Williams team broke allegiance with FOTA(Formula One Teams Association) late last month by confirming their entry for the 2010 season unconditionally. The team in based in Oxfordshire, England and will use Toyota engines. This will be Williams 33nd year in Formula One.

Force India F1

Force India were also suspended from FOTA earlier this month by submitting an unconditional entry. Force India are based in Silverstone, England and will use Mercedes Engines. This will be Force India's 4th season in Formula One.

Campos Grand Prix

The Current Formula 3 and GP2 Champions (Now called Barwa Addax) are run by former Minardi driver Adrian Campos. The team will be based in Valencia, Spain and will use Cosworth engines. This will be the teams first season in Formula One.

Manor Grand Prix

One of the most historic Formula 3 teams will be entering Formula One for the first time. The team have given drives to two current drivers in F1 who have won the last two season, Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton. The team will be based in Valencia, Spain and will use Cosworth engines. This will be the teams first season in Formula One.

USF1

The USF1 team were the first to announce their intent on entering Formula One in 2010. The will be run by Ken Anderson and journalist Peter Windsor. They will be building cars in America and hiring American drivers in hope of getting the American public interested in Formula One. The team will be based in Charlotte, America and will be using Cosworth engines. This will be the teams first season in Formula One.

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes*

The McLaren team are one of the five FOTA teams who are on the list as conditional entries for the season. This means that they have entered the season under conditions that FOTA have given to the FIA. They have been given until next Friday to drop the conditions. The Team are based in Woking, England and will use Mercedes engines. This will be the teams 44th season in Formula One.

BMW-Sauber F1 Team*

The BMW team are also on of the five FOTA teams to enter a conditional entry for the 2010 season. They are based in Munich Germany and will be using BMW engines. This will be BMW's fifth season in Formula One.

Renault F1*

Renault are the third FOTA team on the list and have entered a conditional entry. The team is based in Oxfordshire, England and will use Renault engines. This will be the teams 14th season in Formula One.

Panasonic Toyota Racing*

The Toyota team are also entered conditionally with FOTA. The team are based in Cologne, Germany and will use Toyota engines. This will be Toyota's ninth season in Formula One.

Brawn GP*

The current 2009 championship leaders are the fifth and final team to enter a conditional entry with FOTA. The team will be based in Brackley, England and have not yet confirmed an engine supplier although they are expected to sign another deal with Mercedes. This will be the teams second season in Formula One.

 

The FIA are still in close contact with several teams who can step in FOTA do not remove their conditions by next Friday. These teams are said to include Prodrive and Lola.
