My Utterly Silly Poetic Tribute to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo
Real Madrid have a charismatic yet slightly hysterical boss at the helm with an uncorrupted thirst for unadulterated success, willing to shell out the last shilling in Madrid to assemble an army of gallant footballing warriors, and establish their supreme authority over the footballing realm.
A jaw-dropping 56 million pounds for AC Milan magician Kaka. A record-breaking 80 million pounds for Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
And if you believe the rumors, they are not done yet. Names like Ribery and Xabi Alonso are still on their shopping cart.
Global recession? What the hell is that?
Nothing in this world can stop Real Madrid now!
With that in mind, Bleacher Report's most charming writer, part-time funnyman and resident poet, yours truly: Rocky Getters, got down to work, jotting down his impromptu poetic ramblings on the subject.
The stimulus was unhealthy amounts of caffeine. Believe me, if Real Madrid put me on their payroll, I would write much better. But still..
Here goes nothing...
All hail Real Madrid
O great city of Madrid
Thou hast summoned a dozen warriors best,
Whose ruthless might is known across the three worlds
Who have defeated many, and destroyed the rest.
Crowning of the little Brazilian angel was not yet over
When now the Portuguese magician has joined hands with you,
With every Titan that enters your army
Wide-eyed and speechless, others stand petrified for true.
One wonders, with all the money you have
Who will be next thou will want to scout,
Maybe build a time-machine & go back in time
Kidnap a young Pele, and put him in the Madrid dugout?
No doubt, the Gallacticos have risen like the Phoenix
And looks like there is nothing on heaven or hell, that can stop them now!
But I suggest you spend a dollar to light a candle and pray too...
Cause injuries to some & a loss of form for others, would really really dampen the spirits somehow!
Farewell, Cristiano Ronaldo
Some call you the greatest footballer alive
Some say you could be the greatest of all time,
Of course, Chelsea or Manchester City not included
Hell, even some in red part of Manchester don't like your arrogant side
Some say, they will miss your magic tricks
How you dazzled and enthralled with your amazing skills,
Of course, some say they will miss your "dives" for free-kicks
And how you cried when the ref didn't give a decision your way!
But with critics and fans, love or hatred
One thing cannot be ignored,
There was hard work behind your sweat, passion on your face
You're one of the best to ever play the game of football
The EPL won't be the same without you
None Sir Alex can bring to replace you,
Take a bow, many times you have made Manchester proud
Red Devils will spend their 80 million, but you will always be YOU.
