Carlos Zambrano vs Wandy Rodriguez

5:45
Luckily when I decided to do this live blog, I got Zambrano pitching, as anything can happen when this goon is on the hill.

He is on my 4-5 fantasy team (best 4-5 team in the world. Seriously: ARod, Hanley, Morneau, Soriano) and has won once in a month. I did not take him early but I did not steal him. Basically, I do not like Zambrano and think he is robbing the Cubs of $18 million.

Go Cubs Go!

5:55
Got some Portillo’s. Beef and cheddar croissant, cheese fries. Game does not start for an hour but lets look at the lineups.

Lou is rolling with Soriano, Theriot, Bradley, Lee, Johnson, Soto, (Mickey) Scales, Aaron Miles, Z.

Bradley in the three hole?!

Looks like Lou is trying to jump-start Milton’s dead wood. Aren’t we all?

Reed Johnson is protecting Lee. That’s fine he is hitting .353 vs LHP and he is one of my favorite Cubs.

Sidenote: How do you become one of my favorite players on the Cubs?

Play hard, play smart, and mash.

Geo Soto has been horrible all season long. I was so happy to see him get an RBI single the other day.

Great job Geo!

Bobby Scales (does anyone get that Mickey Scales joke?) is playing, eek! He’s not very good and is only playing because Fonts (Mike Fontenot) does not hit LHP very well. Fontenot is my boy and needs to play everyday ;).

Aaron Miles is Lou’s boy and is not very good, but he is coming off the DL today. Welcome back, I expect an 0-4. Sorry, I’m an Irish Cub fan, I was born a pessimist.

6:15
Got done with dinner and noticed the 34-year-old, er, 36-year-old, er, (um, how old is Miguel Tejada?) SS Miguel Tejada is hitting .357. Wow, his career was over two years ago but he is hitting in his contract season.

Michael Bourn is not very good but is hitting well this season and leading the NL is SB.

Tejada is mashing and I cannot believe Hunter Pence’s average. He stunk for my fantasy team last season, looks like I was one year off.

Carlos Lee is a Cub killer and will hit a bomb tonight.

Lance Berkman is struggling this season but is still one of the best hitters in MLB.

Geoff Blum and Matt Kata should not be starting for any MLB team and they are tonight.

Humberto Quintero is starting for the Astros, I will give you a hug if you have ever heard of him and he has one of the best names in sports.

Wandy Rodriguez is getting the start tonight. He is balling this season but has given up 12 ER in his last two starts. Has the clock struck midnight on this Cinderella? P.S. He owns the Cubs.

6:22
I’m going to play Godfather II until game time.

7:00
Pregame: Len Kasper just said it was 1,000 degrees in Houston, aka H-Town, where the best rap music in the world in made. I don’t believe it is 1,000 degrees in Houston.

7:06
Bob Brenly says Wandy Rodriguez has been tipping his pitches. Which translates to: Wandy Rodriguez has had a few consecutive bad outings.

Soriano Ks looking. Bad call. He’s now hitting .239 and making over $17 million.

7:11
Milton Bradley sees 9 pitches and flies out to left. He’s now hitting .207. Raul Ibanez was also a free agent and leads MLB with 20 HR. You can email Cubs GM Jim Hendry at jhendry@cubs.com.

7:16
Best inning of the year for Zambrano. Leadoff hit, 1-6-3 DP, pop out to 3B. Four mintues.

Looking at the 7-9 hitters for the Cubs: Scales, Miles, Zambrano. Is Z the best hitter out of them? I think so (cringe).

7:22
Geo Soto just smoked a straight fastball 405 FT. 1-0 Cubs. Hardest ball Geo has hit since last July, not kidding.

Mickey, I mean Bobby Scales (anyone?) just hit the epitome of a Seeing Eye single. He’s not very good.

Aaron Miles is up with two out and one on. He will not get a hit here…he grounded out to short. He stinks.

7:32
Another lead off single, no problem, Z’s stuff is moving all over the place. Easy inning. The bottom of the Astros lineup is awful (Blum, Kata, Quintero, W. Rodriguez), I bet they do not get a hit.

7:33
Haha. Youtube Ervin Santana Live TV. Click relevance. Steak dinner, boom (anyone get that joke?)

7:34
Zambrano flied out but he is a better hitter than Kata, Quintero, Miles, and Scales. If he got 500 Abs he would hit .240 with 20 HR.

7:35
Soriano got sawed off.

The bat got stuck in the backstop, I’ve never seen that before. Every game I see something I’ve never seen before.

No other sport is like that, especially football. Same thing every play, snooze fest. Baseball is also a snooze fest but I used to play it so…I have no defense, baseball is extremely boring.

7:38
Theriot almost got picked off for the eighth time this season. I do not know the exact number but he is an awful base runner. I do not like Ryan Theriot but his wife is hot (look up Ryan Theriot Mike Fontenot on ESPN.com).

7:40
A hit for Milton Bradley (crickets).

7:41
Derek Lee hates hitting with runners on. If there was one out, it would have been a 6-4-Lee DP, instead a FC to 2B ends the inning.

6-4-Lee is one of the best nicknames in baseball.

7:46
I will say it right now: As long as Z is in the game the Astros have no chance, boy be dealing. Easy 1-2-3 3rd inning. As Kid Rock said during the 7th inning stretch: Let’s get some lunch!!

7:55
Twitter is an amazing thing. Whenever you are bored (always during a baseball game),  you go to twitter and see what is going on in the world at that very moment.

I am following 461 people, so my Twitter is always blowing up with crazy info. I just found a great fantasy baseball site razzball.com. Follow me on twitter @shmattshmanaya. If you want to know I will tell you how I came up with that name.

Whoa! Aaron Miles delivers a two out hit which allows Z to come up with runners on and flip that batting order over for the next time around. Let’s see what Z can do. Hey! Shoot a gap son!

7:59
Z struck out swinging or swangin’ as they say in Texas. That is fine, Fonzy gets to lead off because of Aaron Miles two out hit. I hope I taught you a little fundamental of being an eighth hitter in the NL.

8:02
Z may go the distance if he keeps that pitch count down. The Astros are swinging (swangin’) at everything, two dead in the fourth.

8:04
Another broken bat and another bad AB for the Astros. This is easy. The Astros are really bad and seem like they know Z is on his game.

8:07
Wow! Soriano just walked on four straight. He is one of the hardest players in MLB to walk, fact.

8:12
Milton Bradley just gave a foul ball to a little girl, she almost threw it back, even she hates Milton.

8:13
Theriot flies out to LF, his 5 HR have gone to his head.

When is the last time you saw him do that inside out Jeter type hit? I used to call him Jeter Jr. now he is playing like one of Jeter’s ex GFs. (There has to be a better joke than that).

8:16
Milton Bradley rolled a slow roller to third base for a 5-4-3, honest to god he’s hurt again. He’s grabbing his calf. He’s stretching his calf.

This guy is an absolute joke and a member of my fantasy team. Bradley will have a bad year this year and will have a great year next.

I have D. Lee, Bradley, Z, Fontenot, Dempster, and Soriano no wonder I am 4-5.

8:18
John Danks throwing well for the Sox, good for him. I will be doing a live blog for the White Sox tomorrow.

8:22
Another 1-2-3 inning, 12 in a row for Z.

Are you excited for the new season of Melrose Place? I am not, as I will not watch one episode but I do know my girl Ashlee will be making a cameo.

Have you ever watched Gossip Girl? I have not, but there is some serious babage in that show.

New word: Babage.

8:25
At least this game is moving along at a pretty good pace. I can only imagine the Sox game tomorrow—I bet it will be a four-hour affair. I love four-hour affairs, hey now!

8:26
Derek Lee swings at a lot of garbage as he Ks for the second time tonight. The Cubs in general swing at a lot of garbage, not good for postseason baseball. Please refer to my "Ain't Gonna Happen" article.

8:36
In between a two out walk Z breaks another bat. He got a little distracted last inning but he still looks dominant. The over worked and dreadful bullpen will buy him some lap dances tonight if he can go the distance.

8:40
Len Kasper told a story how Jake Fox gained a point on his minor league average while being in the majors. Baseball is officially the weirdest sport in the world.

8:45
Z lost a little last inning and now he leads off the inning by walking Hunter Pence and gave up a single to Carlos Lee, first and third nobody out for Lance Berkman, this does not look good.

8:51
Well Z got out of the inning with only one run scoring. Hopefully the Cubs can score for Z and get him win number 101 for his career, Soriano to lead off.

8:54
The Real World/Road Rules finale is on tonight in six minutes. I have not watched, nor do I care to watch, since C.T. smoked that dude in the first episode.

If you have not seen it, Google it or Youtube it, phenomenal reality TV.

9:01
Not surpised how this inning went.

Soriano flies out, Theriot singles, Bradley hits a tailor made DP, bobbled by Tejada, no throw. Runner on first two out, D-Lee singles, first and second two out.

WE NEED A CLUTCH HIT!!

Kosuke pinch hits for Reed Johnson. Strikes out swinging. A perfect example of how bad the Cubs are. Again, please refer to my " Ain't Gonna Happen" article.

When you swing at garbage and cannot hit with RISP, you will not win in the postseason.

9:09
Z is still in and got two ground outs and his third K of the night. He dominated tonight and typically dominates on the road. If the Cubs get to the postseason he should start on the road.

9:16
Big Z is on the on-deck circle, with my luck this game will go 15 innings. I’m ready let’s go.

9:20
Lou pulled Z for my favorite Cub at the moment Angel Guzman.

Dude is dominant and we have all been waiting for this kid to harness his ability. And I think he is starting to.

As I type this he gives up a lead off single. Guzman has to go through Pence, Lee, and Berkman now. Welcome to the late inning role son.

9:29
Doesn’t look good. Bases loaded one out, for Geoff Blum. I was making fun of Blum earlier, is he going to get the last laugh?

9:31
Yup, base hit to CF, game over.

The Cubs lost this game because their $134 million payroll could not score a flipping run versus notorious Cub silencer Wandy Rodriguez.

This was a frustrating game, as are all games when the offense does nothing.

I look forward to watching the entire Sox game tomorrow and giving you my “insights".

I love you if read this far.
