The Mirror reports this morning that Manchester City have been given permission by Barca to open talks with Samuel Eto'o over a move to Eastlands.

FC Barcelona's intention was to use Eto'o as a bargaining chip to chisel Zlatan Ibrahimovic away from Inter Milan.

It seems Inter are not interested in a possible player plus cash deal reported to be around £23 Million plus Eto'o. They much prefer a cash only deal if anything so Barcelona's tactic has taken a change it seems.

Sell Eto'o to finance a move for Ibrahimovic. If that is to go ahead then we should expect a swift confirmation as no party will want to hang about.

Will Eto'o be open to a move to City? Well he has won everything at Barcelona and almost everyone likes a new challenge at some point so why not?

City have shown their intentions with Robinho, Shay Given, and Gareth Barry. City also have one of the best young midfielders in the country, drum roll 'Superman Stephen Ireland'.

City can pay his wages easily enough and City can definitely offer any player a challenge, currently the biggest and most exciting challenge in football right now.

I don't have to convince myself as I know 110% that City can attract anyone aslong as that player is willing to leave their previous team, but are you convinced?

Meanwhile, other news is that Manchester City are pulling their weight on a deal to bring England international Joloen Lescott to City from Everton, so much so that Mark Hughes is offering England under 21 international, Micah Richards plus £5 to £8 Million.

Seems to me like a good deal. Micah does have an ego problem and I have found myself skipping media attention when I see Micah's name in the title. There's no doubting his ability, but for me he's a big headed, muscle bound under achiever.

So I welcome this move if it is to be true.
