2008 NHL Playoffs: What A Night!

Please, send the children out of the room before you read this article. Thank You.

They’re gone? Great! Boy, I’ve got to tell you about last night. The most incredible thing happened to me. This is something I usually only read in those unmentionable books and magazines that men in trench coats go into late at night.

I went on a double-date last night. No, not the conventional kind. Just me and two beauties. Can I tell you about them? Fantastic, well, here it goes.

The first one started at 7:00 last night. She was fiery orange with a touch of white. I started first and then she tied me up. Then, she gained the lead and to return the favor, I tied her up.

On and on, we went, battling each other.  Finally, she overcame me but not until we were both drained, falling over and exhausted. The downside, I had another date at 10:00 pm.

This second one was dark, almost from top to bottom. Man, she was beautiful. We started kind of slow at first. Then, all of a sudden, BLAM! She jumped on top of me.

Well, I just wasn’t in the mood to take that, so I tied her up and then jumped on top of her. What happened next was just amazing.

She came back four more times. One right after another. I did manage to get one more myself but it was too little to late. Stick a fork in me, I was done. She sent me packing, almost for the rest of the year.

In my defense, I can say with utmost certainty that I’ll be back and back with a revenge on my mind. It might not be this year but I’ll be back…

Wha’…?….Where am I? What’s happened? Wha’….?.... Oh, not again! I fell asleep on the couch and missed all the games!!! I did this when I was watching the Detroit Red Wing first round series. Well, I guess there’s only one thing left to say…

Gotcha! (LOL!)

No, I didn’t fall asleep. No, I didn’t miss the games.

Here’s the reasons why.

The Philadelphia Flyers and the San Jose Sharks are now advancing to Round Two of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Flyers defeated the Washington Capitals in a pitcher’s duel, overtime win. At 6:06 of the first OT, Joffrey Lupul scored a power-play goal and sent his team on to play against the Montreal Canadiens.

In the second Game Seven Tuesday night, the Shark scored three times in the second period sending Calgary’s net-minder, Miikka Kiprusoff to the bench. His replacement, Curtis Joseph, then allowed a fifth goal and sent the Flame(r)s home for the summer.

The Sharks went on to win 5-3. Now they head off to play against the Dallas Stars Friday night.

Congratulations to the Sharks and the Flyers for advancing on in Lord Stanley’s Playoffs. The complete schedule is listed below and it looks like all of us hockey fans are in for a great Semifinal Conference showdown. Hope I don’t fall asleep during it.
