Vince Young Gives the Tennessee Titans an Ultimatum
Tennessee Titansโ quarterback Vince Young is at it again, but instead of whining, now heโs giving ultimatums.
As the Titans' first-round pick in the 2006 draft, Young was expected to be a difference maker for the then-struggling Titans, and for a season or so, he was.
After winning the Rookie of the Year Award in 2006, he regressed during the 2007 season throwing nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions. After a rocky start to the 2008 season, he was benched during the first game against the Jags, of course after throwing a couple of interceptions.

Young spent almost the entire 2008 season as the backup to Kerry Collins, who led the team to a 13-3 record. Knowing full well that his performance alone won't get him back in the staring lineup, Young has decided to give his employer an ultimatumโstart me or trade me. Smart move, right?
So what leverage does the "franchise" quarterback have? He still has two years left on a $58 million contract, and more importantly, he hasnโt had a great performance on the field in more than a year.
Obviously, there isnโt a giant market for an inconsistent quarterback that often puts his own agenda ahead of the teamโs. I donโt doubt that he will start again in the NFL, but the way Young has handled adversity speaks to his narcissistic behavior and his lack of commitment to his team.
That's not a great way to get back into the good graces of your coach.
