On June 3, 2009, Sky Sports News reported that Manchester United and Aon Corporation have completed a deal that would make Aon the new shirt sponsor of Manchester United starting in 2010.

Aon, the world's leading risk adviser and human capital consultant is based in the United States, just like United's previous shirt sponsor AIG, which won't remain as Man Utd's shirt sponsor from 2010-2011 on because of their financial problems in the United States.

Greg Case, president and chief executive officer of Aon, has said “Manchester United has one of the most recognized sports brands in the world, and we are excited to now be the shirt sponsor of this team."

The deal is believed to be the most lucrative shirt sponsorship deal in football as it is a £20m per season, four-year partnership.

In order to get the shirt sponsorship Aon beat out competition from Sahara India Pariwar, Saudi Telecom Company, and Prudential.
