Five Storylines: Eddie Jordan To the 76ers
So the man who should still be coach of the Washington Wizards has been tapped to lead the Philadelphia 76ers. Eddie Jordan will be the next head coach of a young, athletic team that pushed a championship contender in the first round of this yearโs playoffs.
So where do we begin with the story lines? How about with these five.
5. Jordan calls Andre Miller โThe Point Guard of His Dreams.โ - Canโt you just hear Jordan taking a shot at his former floor general by heaping praise on the swagless-yet-solid Andre Miller? Lauding his leadership, his patience and approaching to getting other people involved, it all seems too perfect for Gil to be motivated to drop 70 on the 76ers next year.
4. The 76ers take pride in defense. - Philly has the personnel to be a great defensive team. The front line of Thaddeus Young, Elton Brand and Samuel Dalembert is just as athletic as Jordanโs former team, but from outward appearances, would seem to be committed to stopping opponents instead of just outscoring them.
3. The Sixers sweep the Wizards in the regular season. - Itโs not like Jordan doesnโt know the Wiz personnel, their tendencies, and has no motivation for vengeance. Their play got him fired. The least he could do is keep them behind his new team.
2. Philadelphia brings back the fast-breaking offense of yesteryear. - Could Andre Iguodala be the reincarnation of Julius Erving? Itโs possible under Jordanโs motion-based and fast break friendly offense. It could have been Nick Young here in Washington, but he just wasnโt mature enough.
1. The Wizards do not make the playoffs. - And the 76ers do. Nothing could be more gratifying to Jordan, and mortifying for Wizards fans.
