Philadelphia 76ers Hire Eddie Jordan as New Head Coach

WASHINGTON - MAY 2: Head coach Eddie Jordan of the Washington Wizards watches from the sideline during the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game Six of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals during the 2008 NBA Playoffs at the Verizon Center on May 2, 2008 in Washington, DC. The Cavaliers won 105-88 to advance to the next round. The 76ers head coaching search is over, they have hired former Washington Wizards, Jordan had interviewed for the Sacramento Kings.  Eddie Jordan has a career 230-288 record as the coach of the Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings. Jordan was a favorite for the job since he formerly worked with Ed Stefanski.

Jordan has never made it past the conference semifinals. As a huge Sixers fan this really kills my mood.  Do you really think that Jordan was the best candidate out there, Jordan however makes Ed Snider and Ed Stefanski look stupid, this hiring reflects where the future of this team is headed, down. This is a coach who has only made it past the first round once.

Jordan is a coach that can be Ed Stefanski’s puppet, what are Jordan’s credentials, that he would not cost much money. That he had formerly worked with Ed Stefanski. How do Stefanski and Snider expect to fill an arena that is half empty in a postseason game?

This hiring infuriates me, by hiring a guy who has a career .444 winning percentage, by the way he is 8-18 in his playoff career and he started 1-10 in 2008 with the Wizards. This reminds me when the Knicks hired Isiah Thomas.

This makes the Sixers look like a second rate NBA franchise. I will make a prediction, Ed Stefanski is quickly running this team into the ground, he will be fired in after the 2009 season when this unfixable Sixer team underachieves again.

Ed Stefanksi has made many mistakes, signing Brand to a six year deal, overpaying Lou Williams and Andre Iguadala, and firing Mo Cheeks this is strike four. And you ask why 10,000 people show up to a home game.

As a Sixer fan I am looking forward to this weekend, watching the Phillies game and when this news breaks, I am shocked. Ed Stefanski was not willing to give up the money; Eddie Jordan will be the biggest disaster that has hit this town since. Ed Snider might as well sell this team.

Both Stefanski and Snider have embarrassed this team and the city of Philadelphia, this is pathetic. I just can’t wait until I see who this guy drafts. Years from now this will rank right at the top as one of the worst hires.

I would rather have seen Tom Thobodeau, or Kurt Rambis. I just can’t wait for the pathetic press conference when the foolish Ed Stefanski introduces the mediocre Eddie Jordan. Now I am positive Stefanski should be fired and this team will never cash it in. this is Philly, not a D-league team.

This makes Jeffrey Lurie and Joe Banner look good compared to Snider and Stefanski. A name like Jeff Van Gundy or Avery Johnson would have brought excitement. The clueless Eddie Jordan brings no hope to me, time to find another NBA team to root for. This team has given up.
