The wealth of midfield talent available to Bayern Munich means that there are always going to be some players who are left disappointed, and right now one of those is Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Swiss international hasn't featured as much as he would have liked since his move from FC Basel in the summer of 2012, with Pep Guardiola unable to shoehorn him into a team which features world-class talents pretty much everywhere you look.
Although Liverpool are having a good season, Brendan Rodgers doesn't quite have the same problem, and the Northern Irishman is interested in a potential loan deal for the talented youngster in a rumour flagged up here by the Liverpool Echo.
Shaqiri will undoubtedly be keen to get some more first-team football under his belt in January ahead of a World Cup in which many are tipping the Swiss to perform well, and a move to the Reds might just benefit all parties.
In signing the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses, who is also on loan, Rodgers has shown that he isn't afraid to give a chance to those players who are on the fringes of the action at several of the biggest clubs on the continent.
Shaqiri undoubtedly fits into that bracket, and he would certainly improve a Liverpool team who will be targeting a top-four finish in the New Year.
