Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Should Move on from Potential Alvaro Morata Loan
Some things just aren't meant to be. If Arsenal want to add a striker this January, Alvaro Morata should be considered a bridge too far.
Spanish football journalist and Bleacher Report guest columnist Guillem Balague reported the 21-year-old forward, along with Arsene Wenger, would welcome a possible move, but Real Madrid won't let it happen.
However, Morata said in an interview with AS that he's willing to stay at Madrid and isn't planning to move anywhere anytime soon, per Sky Sports' Lucas Brown:

"I only think about succeeding at Real Madrid.
Every day I work hard to earn myself a place in the team, but I know that I have had the support of [coach Carlo] Ancelotti since the first day that he came here.
"
Another report in Marca also put the kibosh on any deal happening.
Of course, there are never any sure things when it comes to transfer rumors. It's not as if the player is going to risk the wrath of his own supporters by angling for a move away from the club.
There's no question that this is a move that makes a ton of sense for Arsenal, under the right circumstances.
Morata is one of the best young talents in Spanish football. He demonstrated his abilities at the Under-21 European Championships, where he was the top scorer, tallying four goals in five games.
Morata looks to be one of the centerpieces for the Spanish national team in the future, and his ability to play a more direct game will likely be pivotal as La Roja look for ways to remain ahead of the curve in relation to their best competition at the 2016 European Championships and 2018 World Cup.
In addition, the Gunners could use another forward. It's nothing to do with Olivier Giroud, as he's been fantastic this season, but you'd feel much more comfortable if it wasn't Nicklas Bendtner and Yaya Sanogo listed as the direct replacements for the Frenchman.
The problem is that this deal doesn't make much sense for Real Madrid.
Also, Arsenal would be foolish to simply bring on a player that young for only six months. This isn't like Romelu Lukaku going to Everton or West Brom for a season. Those clubs can't get a player of that quality any other way, so they're willing to bring in a player for just a short time.
Arsenal don't have to settle for that. They have the wealth and status to attract any number of talented young strikers.
If the Gunners are dead set on bringing in a forward, they should go for a player who will help the club in the long term, in addition to the short term. That way, all that time developing his talent won't go to waste as soon as his loan is up.
What Arsenal could do with Morata is try and work a transfer fee that will make the deal permanent at a later date.
At issue there is whether Madrid would leave open the possibility of parting with one of their most talented home-grown players at this point in his career.
The Spanish giants are making a push toward elevating younger Spanish talent. It's why they bought Isco and Asier Illarramendi in the summer and brought back Daniel Carvajal.
It's unlikely they'll sell off one of the cornerstones for that plan already.
The only way you could see Morata being sold is if Luis Suarez is purchased this January, and there's virtually no way Liverpool will sell him on the form he's at right now.
You also have to consider Madrid's unwillingness to end up with egg on their face as a result of selling another player to Arsenal. They're still hearing plenty of criticism from letting Mesut Ozil move to the Emirates.
Real Madrid will be loathe to have the same thing happen twice in the space of five months.
So as great as Morata would be for Arsenal, they're much better off turning their attention toward other players this January.
