You know, I live in Southern California. I know, a Chiefs fan in California? Weird right? Well, I’m applying for this CBS job, and the closest team to me is the San Diego Chargers. So I obviously would be trying to get a job with them. This is my last article for CBS consideration. And I’m going to mix it up a little bit. I’m going to write about LaDainian Tomlinson.

When I turned 16, my mother gave my brother (A chargers fan) and me tickets to the game. This was the famous season for the Chargers, where LT was breaking numerous records, leading them to a 14-2 record. Well I had no idea what I was in for. This was my first NFL game. I was maybe 14 rows up on the lower field level. Right behind the Chiefs bench. I was ecstatic to be there, even though I knew there was a slim chance we were going to pull out a victory.

If you follow football closely, and I’m sure everyone reading this does, then you’ll remember that game.  Mr. Tomlinson ran for 199 yards off of 25 carries. That led to an average of about 8.0 YPC. Oh yeah, add on his amazing 85 yard touchdown run, his second touchdown of the day.

I was 16 years old. I was crushed. The first Chiefs game I ever saw and we lost. I didn’t even get to see my team score a touchdown. However, I did get to see one of the best running backs ever, giving every ounce of strength and speed he had to lead his team to victory. If I had a chance to ask him a few questions after that game, this is how it would go:

Mr. Tomlinson, my name is Elliott Duncan. I’m not a Charger fan, but I sure as hell am an LT fan after your performance tonight. Amazing tie by the way. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions? Great!

When you took that snap tonight, and saw that you had 85 yards of clear field ahead of you, what went across your mind?

The Chiefs were one of two teams to beat you previously this season. Was the last loss enough motivation for you tonight?

Fullback Lorenzo Neal has been a key player for you in particular, lead blocking for you numerous plays a game. Do you feel that your production will change when you two break apart?

You joined your teammates in the end zone last week after breaking the single season touchdown record- did you enter the season knowing that this was your year?

You are the fourth running back to break the touchdown record this decade. How would you compare yourself to the previous holders- Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes, Marshall Faulk and Emmitt Smith?

Would you say that you are the leader of this offense, and possibly the team?

How do you feel knowing that there are millions of kids around the country looking up to you, modeling their running game after you?

Amazing game tonight Mr. Tomlinson. I really appreciate you taking your time to grant me this interview. Congratulations on your new record, and hopefully we’ll see you in the playoffs.
