Report: Free Agent Lamar Odom Met with Doc Rivers, Clippers Brass on Friday
The Los Angeles Clippers have kept a roster spot open since training camp, and it appears they are in the process of auditioning a familiar face.
Odom played all 82 regular-season games for the Clippers last season. Though his offensive game has eroded noticeably in the past two seasons—he shot below 40 percent from the field in 2012-13—he did help bolster the Clippers' second-unit defense. Odom finished first on the team in defensive rebounding rate and fourth in defensive win shares, according to Basketball Reference.
No matter how poorly Odom might shoot the ball, his defense could be a real help to this season's Clippers team, currently ranked an embarrassing 28th in defensive efficiency.

Of course, relatively few of Odom's troubles have come on the court in recent years. In the past few months alone, Odom has been arrested for DUI and has faced accusations of rampant drug use. Any team which signs Odom will have to consider not only his age and fitness level, but also his numerous personal issues.
But players with Odom's size and track record are rare, and it seems that both LA teams might be interested, according to Ramona Shelburne and Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
"Odom has a positive history with both the Clippers and Lakers that sources say keeps the door open for a return as long as he can convince those teams he can get back into basketball shape and is committed to resurrecting his NBA career.
"
By bringing Odom in for an interview, it would seem the Clippers are willing to take this courtship to the next level.
