Ryan Giggs: United Can Dominate
Manchester Unitedās Ryan Giggs claims his teammates have the potential to dominate for the next few years.
The former Wales captain even went as far as comparing the current squad to the treble winning squad in 1999.
Ryan Giggs is one of the few current players for United who was part of the team which won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League in 1999.
And not many people are as fitting as Ryan Giggs when it comes to comparing the two squads.
āI think this group of players is up there with the 1999 lot,ā he said. āBut this is probably the best squad weāve had in terms of the balance between the young lads and the experienced players.ā
And although United will be unable to achieve another historic treble this season, Ryan Giggs and his teammates are still on course to reclaim their Premier League crown and recapture the coveted Champions League trophy.
United are five points ahead of Chelsea at the pinnacle of the table, but their lead could be slashed to two points if Chelsea beat Everton tonight. Sir Alex Fergusonās troops also have a semi-final date with Spanish giants Barcelona.
But regardless of what silverware United claim this season, Ryan Giggs still believes Fergusonās current crop of players have the capability to dominate for years to come.
āI donāt see why this team canāt dominate for the next few years,ā Giggs said. āEverything is in place for that to happen.ā
But Giggs did stress, however, that his younger teammates must never lose their hunger for success.
āIt just depends whether the younger players have the hunger and desire to keep on winning trophies, but Iām sure thatās the case. This team is the right age to achieve success for a long time.ā
In the meantime Ryan Giggs and his teammates will look to continue their pursuit of a second consecutive Premier League title and a first European triumph since the year of the historic treble.
