Minnesota Twins

New Yankee Stadium, Same story for Twins…

Daniel HillmanContributor IMay 19, 2009

Here come the Yankees.

Monday night, the Yankees finished off a sweep of the Twins with a 7-6 win, completing a four game sweep of the Twins, and running their winning streak to six game. Amazing the Yankees got the sweep considering the way Morneau and Mauer mashed this weekend.

The Twins, who are now 5-25 at Yankees Stadium during the Ron Gardenhire years (2002-present), had opportunities two win all four of the games during the series, but came up short in all of them.

The Yankees, suddenly are hitting their stride here in mid-May, and will continue their home-stand this week, with three against the Orioles, and a highly anticipated three game series vs. the defending World Champion, Philadelphia Phillies.

The most important thing for the Yankees is the fact that suddenly the ball is rolling big time with the Starting Pitching and also the bullpen.

Consider this, six in a row, and you got your best pitcher on the bump tomorrow to set the tone for the series with the Orioles. Lock it up right now, CC will pitch a hell of a game tomorrow. LOCK IT UP.

The one thing you would like to see the Yankees do better in the next week is actually hit with the runners in scoring position better. Tonight, they blew a couple opportunities to add tack on runs, and over the course of the weekend the team blew several opportunities to blow games wide up by dilly-dalling with ducks on a pond. And watching some of the performances by this bullpen- the Yankees can use all the late inning tack on runs they can get.

Here’s your probables for the series…

Tuesday, May 19th at 7.05pm -  Bergeson vs. Sabathia

Wednesday, May 20th at 7.05pm – Guthrie vs. Hughes

Thursday, May 21st at 7.05 – Eaton vs. Chamberlain
