Jake Peavy might be heading to the Chicago White Sox, which is a surprise when for almost seven months or so, rumors had him going to the cross-town rival in the Cubs.

Both the Padres and White Sox have agreed to the deal, it is all in Peavy's hands, as he has a no-trade clause in his contract.

This would be a great trade for both sides. The White Sox have had inconsistent starting pitching and Peavy is one of the most consistent pitchers in all of baseball within the past few years. That and his contract is not up until 2012, which gives the Sox some longevity.

The Sox want to win this year, as they have a relatively weak division, which is up for grabs and with an addition of a Jake Peavy would boost their chances for another playoff run.

Peavy may want another chance at the playoffs, as it seems that the Dodgers are going to take the NL West, as they are the most complete team in that division.

For the Padres, they would be getting two of the best pitching prospects that the Sox's organization have in Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda, both of which have been stellar this season.

The Padres would be able to start rebuilding for the future, but as Poreda seems to be major-league ready with a couple of more months experience and Richard with already about a half a season in the majors already, this looks to be a promising future for the Padres as well.

Overall, it is Peavy's decision on whether he wants to change leagues and experience pitching in a hitter-friendly ballpark in U.S. Cellular Field or not.
