SAN FRANCISCO - OCTOBER 5: Quarterback Matt Cassel #16 of the New England Patriots is sacked by Patrick Willis #52 of the San Francisco 49ers during an NFL game on October 5, 2008 at Monster Park in San Francisco, California.

Will the 49ers dominate the NFC West? Some say this is a weak division. Why? Because it is a division where every game is a battle of position. Unlike the other divisions where teams get blown out. The NFC West must stay competitive the entire season. In fact it comes down to the last game of the year.

Now with OTA's just about completed, and Training Camp around the corner. The 49ers prepare for their 2009 campaign. Under the leadership of new head coach Mike Singletary, expectations and intensity will be high. The 49ers will come out of the gates to fight and battle for dominance in the NFC West.

The only questions the 49ers face is at the quarterback position, and in their pass rushing defense.

Offense: This season we have another quarterback battle. This time it is interesting because both Hill & Smith have a chance to become the starter. Who will win the battle? I actually would like to see Shaun Hill start the season as the starter. Lets see what he can actually do with a full season. Can Hill win games that matter? He seems to be very good at the end of the season (7-2).

He will need to start the season strong. Especially in the first game where we can make a statement to the rest of the NFC west. Also keep in mind we will be a power running team! Physical with an "F".  Our success on offense will be determined by, our ability to control the clock and turnovers. That is what killed us lasted year.

Defense: We all know what was missing last year! Pass Rush & Turnovers!!! Yes our OLB need to be smart, quick, and physical. I see Parys Haralson continuing where he left off last year. I believe we will finally get to see why we drafted Manny Lawson. This guy will be amazing this year and will complement each other. Our safeties need to step it up. Dashon Goldson need to be on the ball like a hawk. Interceptions, Interceptions, Interceptions. Do I need to say more!!!

All in all if we follow these key elements I believe the 49ers will without a doubt dominate the NFC West, and who knows what they could do outside of the division.
