Sabathia Goes Hunting For Orange Birds At Yankee Stadium

The Baltimore Orioles (16-22) are making their first trip to the new Yankee Stadium.

Not that it is up to them, but it isn't a really good time to come.

After the Minnesota Twins were dismantled by the surging New York Yankees (21-17), who have won six games in a row, the Yanks look to remain hot against the Orioles.

CC Sabathia is coming off a big win in Toronto, against the AL East leading Blue Jays.  He pitched eight innings, giving up two runs on five hits.  However, he did walk five batters, but struck out five as well.

Let's not get carried away though, the Baltimore Orioles rocked CC Sabathia on opening day in Baltimore on Apr. 6.

Sabathia gave up six earned runs and only pitched four-and-one-third innings.

Not so fast though, Sabathia faced the Orioles again nearly two weeks ago.  He pitched a complete-game shutout, with eight strikeouts and only one walk.

Tuesday night will be the third time he has seen the Orioles this season.

The Orioles counter with Brad Bergesen (1-1, 5.27).  Opponents are hitting .348 off of Bergesen this year and he will have to keep the ball down to keep the hot Yankees from hitting it over the outfield wall.

Bergesen last pitched in Tampa against the Rays.  Taking the loss, Bergesen allowed nine hits and four earned runs against the Rays over five-and-two-third innings.

After a three-game series with the Orioles, the Yankees remain at home to take on the Philadelphia Phillies in this years first set of interleague play.
