The Future for Arsenal F.C.

Fidel LeblancMay 18, 2009

With the startling news that Arsene Wenger has only been given 13 million pounds to spend this summer, where it was widely thought Wenger would spend a bit more than he usually does,  speculation undoubtedly arrives. Some of it, such as the Tevez talk is rubbish. I just cannot see Wenger splashing out the 22 million MSI want for him. His first order of business is to raise funds. He will do this by selling the lazy, want-out Adebayor and sadly, yet necessarily, Robin van Persie. He can make at least 30 million pounds of revenue with this. We would have enough money for a talented defender like Mamadou Sakho of PSG, a no-nonsense midfielder like Marcos Senna or Miguel Veloso, and a better backup for Almunia such as Lyon's Hugo Lloris.

Of course, selling our two best strikers sounds a bit drastic but if you really look at it, we'd only need sign one more. With Eduardo waiting in the wings to make a return next season, we may look at him as our main source of goals. Bendtner is still not ready to start, which is why another tall striker should be brought in. Rumours of Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko are welcomed as he is an extremely prolific goalscorer. Just look at his record this year in the Bundesliga. He is absolutely on fire. He can head, dribble, shoot with both feet. He is a quintessential tall forward who isn't afraid to score scrappy goals a la van Nistelrooy. Other striking possibilities include the powerful Pavel Pogrebnyak, Roque Santa Cruz, and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who could be used to raise funds at Real Madrid after the bank-breaking possibility of Ronaldo and Kaka arriving there.

Whatever happens, I am sure the Professor will get it right, putting us right where the Red & White Army belong, at the top!

P.S. Florentino Perez, get away from our Wenger. Sign a mercenary like Mourinho or someone. Wenger's  will never leave the Arsenal, not until he accomplishes what he's set out to do. And that is guide us to European fame, and completely secure our club among the true world elites.
