WWE Judgement Day Predictions

Christi LottCorrespondent IMay 15, 2009

Okay, so here are my predictions for this Sunday's PPV. Feel free to add your own in the comment section.

CM Punk vs. Umaga

This is a bit of a throwaway match for me, so I'm going with Punk. The WWE will be in Chicago, and I don't see Punk losing in his hometown.

Shelton Benjamin vs. John Morrison

I am definitely excited for this match, just announced today. These two may be the most athletic and physically gifted wrestlers in the WWE, and they will probably and hopefully have the match of the night. I'm going with Benjamin to continue the feud.

John Cena vs. Big Show

I could really care less about this match, since I'm a fan of neither. Obviously it is meant to showcase Super Cena, injured and all, will still defeat Show. Whooppee.

IC Title Match: Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Chris Jericho

I'm seeing Jericho pulling off this win. I like Rey and I think he's a great champ, and being so brings in more opportunities for challengers. But I'm seeing other people losing their titles tonight, and heel Jericho has got to win the title. Plus, it could put him into a continuing feud with Edge, who seems to be on a tweener run at this moment. This will definitely be an exciting match nonetheless.

ECW Title Match: Christian (c) vs. Jack Swagger

I'm seeing Christian keeping this belt. Swagger in the past month has really proven himself as a very capable main eventer, and I'm not ready for him to get the title yet. He doesn't have another contender really built up yet. I'd keep the belt on Christian and let the WWE build up Evan Bourne, Tyson Kidd, and David Hart Smith as the next contenders.

World Heavyweight Title Match: Edge(c) vs. Jeff Hardy

I'm honestly not too excited about either of the major title matches. This particular match has been seen a few times too many. I'm seeing Edge pulling this win off. I say that because I have no doubt in my mind that Punk will be cashing in and winning.

I don't think the WWE will ever turn him heel, which is a true shame, so I don't see them putting the title on Hardy and then having Punk cash in on him. Plus, with the "Hardy not signed" rumors, I don't think the WWE will put the title on him to go through a summer program. Punk is the better option, especially in getting into a feud with both Edge and Jericho.

WWE Title Match: Randy Orton (c) vs. Batista

Yawn. If HHH isn't in the title match, it's Batista. BORING. I like Orton as champion and it's a little too obvious that he will be walking out champ. I'm just not into Batista being a No. 1 contender. It does nothing for Orton, as the two have them have beaten each other back and forth, and none of it's been exciting.

Orton just continues to be built as sort of a throwaway champ, and none of his runs are really interesting. Unfortunately for the WWE, RAW really only has six strong faces: Cena, Batista, HHH, MVP, HBK, and Kofi. MVP for some reason is back to mid-card land after a strong showing with Orton, with Kofi there with him.

HBK is MIA. Cena is stuck with Show. HHH will most likely make a surprise return, but I think it will be to turn heel, especially with the fans cheering when he got taken out. It'd be wise for him to get into a revenge feud with Batista, and believing him to be the reason HHH lost the title. Unfortunately, this will clear the way for Cena to be the next contender.

On a side note, I was hoping for Mickie vs. Maryse for the Divas Championship to be announced. Mickie has pinned the champ twice and has been on a consistent roll. Of course, there is still one more day to announce it. The two have some solid chemistry and have had nice match-ups. The card is great until you get to the title matches. The only thing that makes Edge/Hardy exciting is the possibility that Punk will cash in. All in all, I'm marginally interested in Judgement Day
