MLB All-Star Ballot: 2009 Picks

It's about half-way to the All-Star game, and balloting started ridiculously early a couple of weeks ago. Here's who should be tabbed All-Stars.

I follow the rules (there must be one member from each team and 32 overall players), which is why there are some snubs, who should be All-Stars. An asterisk* denotes injury which usually relegates a player to snub.

American League:

First Base: Kevin Youkilis (Bos) is leading American League first basemen in batting average (.393), on-base percentage (.505), and slugging (.719). He also has 20 RBI and six home runs.

Reserves: Miguel Cabrera (Det), Justin Morneau (Min), Carlos Pena (TB)
Snubs: Aubrey Huff (Bal), Paul Konerko (Cws)

 

Second Base: Aaron Hill (Tor) is leading American League second basemen in batting average (.337), home runs (9) and RBI (30). He also has a .917 OPS.

Reserves: Ian Kinsler (Tex), Asdrubal Cabrera (Cle), Albert Callaspo (Kan)
Snubs: Dustin Pedroia (Bos), Robinson Cano (Nyy)

 

Shortstop: Jason Bartlett (TB) is leading American League shortstops in batting average (.363), on-base percentage (.403), slugging (.540), and stolen bases (9). He also has 14 RBI and five home runs.

Reserves: Marco Scutaro (Tor)
Snubs: None

 

Third Base: Evan Longoria (TB) is leading American League third basemen in home runs (11), RBI (45), slugging (.701), and on-base percentage (.396). He also has a .343 batting average.

Catcher: Victor Martinez (Cle) is leading American League catchers in home runs (7), RBI (25), batting average (.400), slugging (.650), and on-base percentage (.479).
